Yeek! Only 10 days of writing left!
I’ll cut to the chase here: my plan told me to write 1,000 words, and I got it!
I’m up to 31,006 words!
I’m a few scenes into the third act now, and I’m just discovering that the outline was exciting but didn’t really bring any conflict.
I did a quick round of brainstorming, and I figured out a neat little way that Esthree’s antagonist could get one more knife-stab in. I even got a few hundred words of it down…
…then I realised Esthree had reverted right back to her old passive self.
Things were happening to the protagonist. The protagonist wasn’t driving the story.
That was a gutting thing to realise, but better now than a thousand words in! So I threw some more words down, and ended up with a tight little fight scene, a “save the many” vs “save the few” decision to make, and Esthree realising a damaging mindset which she needs to change.
Y’know, all the good stuff.
According to my plan, I need to nail another 1,000 words tomorrow. With luck and stamina, my next blog post will have me at 32,000 words.
