How J.K. Rowling writes an effective mystery

This video about how J.K. Rowling writes effective mysteries just popped up on my YouTube subscription feed, and I had to share it.

I’ve never read Harry Potter, so I’m neither a fan nor a hater.

But — it doesn’t need to be said — she’s obviously doing something right. A bad book doesn’t lead to movies, stage plays or theme parks.

Anyway, I’m not going to dump all the content of the video in here. I don’t want to steal Just Write‘s ad views — plus it’s a gorgeous little video essay.

If you’re writing a mystery and looking for some awesome advice, give it a watch!
