I’m really starting to miss writing.
Just like last week, I’m still brainstorming an outline for the first story in this trilogy.
And I’d categorise the week as a series of minor breakthroughs rather than a significant leap forward.
One thing I found immensely helpful was an episode of The Every Day Novelist about character development. For one, it was reassuring to know that I already had a sound technique for developing my characters, and – for two – it encouraged me to brainstorm a little wider and deeper than I already had.
I’ve also started re-reading Outlining Your Novel: Map Your Way to Success by K.M. Weiland, and it’s been so useful to refresh myself on ideation techniques.
Along with focussing on brainstorming and reading, I’ve had stomach cramps and a headache for almost a week straight.
I took last Monday off from my day-job to get some velocity on this story, but I was wiped out by a migraine. I’ve barely felt better since.
So, blah blah blah. I’m tired and grumpy.
